Getting a Girlfriend

A girl wants a man she can talk about. She wants a man that she can bring to this year’s Christmas (or Hanukkah, I suppose) party or to bring home to her family. Not just family situation, what if you’re being brought into her friend’s circle? You can’t look or smell like you stayed up until 3am raiding, and they will certainly look at you strangely if you tell them.

Although you may seem incredibly awesome if she brings you to a LAN (where you can brag that you get a 5:1 ratio in Counter-Strike public servers), you need to think of other settings. Actually, come to think of it, if you did go to a LAN party holding onto a girl that wasn’t your mum, you would seem pretty cool.

So think about these things:

• Do I look like someone the typical person would be proud to present to friends and family?
• Do I smell like someone the typical person would be proud to present to friends and family?
• Do I act like someone the typical person would be proud to present to friends and family?
• Do I make conversation that the typical person would find interesting? You can go on forever about how you prefer WASD to arrow keys, but does uncle bob really care?

Really take an honest look at yourself and those questions. Future articles will discuss these at lengths.
